Skullcow Records Summer Sampler 2010

The 6th release from Skullcow Records (and our first compilation) is now up for free download. This 9-track digital-only release features all the bands on our roster as well as music from a few friends that are well worth a listen.
More specifically, as well as some Skullcow 'classics,' the comp includes an exclusive new track from March Of The Playwrite (the new band from Ellis Slater of 'The Misnomer' and 'Atom Gang'), a ridiculously catchy demo from The Remnant's frontman Ben Hayes as well as the beautiful demo of 'Come Undone' which will feature (in re-recorded form) on Adam Barnes' upcoming EP
Please check it out and enjoy the music!

I Seem To Be Getting Worse...

With this whole updating lark. Lots going on behind the scenes however - new EP from Ellis Slater's new band March Of The Playwrites is imminent as is (potentially) a new solo release from the immensely talented Ben Hayes, frontman for The Remnants. Adam Barnes is also off in the next few weeks to record his debut solo ep so here's hoping that in the next few months we'll see a flurry of new skullcow releases
enjoy the sun x

An Update

Approaching half-way through the year and my plans to use this thing more regularly have fallen by the wayside but hey at least sparse random pointless posts are better than nothing....at least id like to think so.
Carrying on the theme of plugging some other artists, Wise Children's 'Absence & Reunion' EP is still available on a pay-what-you-want basis and though Skullcow is not involved in the release, Robin is an amazing songwriter who has produced a great EP so it definitely deserves your support. I've lost count of the number of times I've listened to the track 'Absence' so yeah click on the ad to the right to pick that up and fund Robin's jaunts around New Zealand. Another new artist thats racking up a high number of plays with me at the moment is Holly Partridge (pictured above) - a cake obsessed 'slice' (see what i did there) of awesomness who has produced some great catchy music that I can guarantee will be the perfect soundtrack to many a summer. Can't wait to hear what else she comes up with - check her out at her myspace -
http://www.myspace.com/hollypartridgeIn terms of Skullcow news - we've had some great responses to the Motion In Colour EP so thanks to everyone that's picked it up. Yes as I've said before the production didnt come out as well as we'd hoped but there are still 5 great tracks on there and for just £1.79 on itunes its worth a punt for all fans of heartfelt melodic pop-rock. Over in the store we're also continuing our old '£3 Debuts Deal' which will get you a copy of Atom Gang's debut album and The Remnants single, with free p&p, for just £3 so get that or....well dont, but it'd be much appreciated if you did.
In other exciting news the plans for our limited edition physical release of Ellis Slater's amazing EP are coming together nicely and his new band 'March Of The Playwrite' have finished recording their first release (and what i've heard so far is great) so we're hoping to get some music out from them very very soon. Adam Barnes (frontman for Motion In Colour) has gone solo and will be recording an EP in July and also Ben from The Remnants may be recording some solo material soon too - more information on what's coming up from both of those guys when I have it.
SO lots on the horizon - enjoy the sun and if you enjoy random tweets from a twat you can still check out my random musings at

News

Apologies for the lack of updates - real life, a holiday and the election (you may have noticed one going on) have taken over. Anyway Motion In Colour's 'When All Of You Have Gone' EP is out and has had some good responses from people, not so good responses from the press but hopefully you'll check it out. I think its safe to say it didnt turn out quite as well as we hoped but there are still 5 great tracks on there from a really talented young band and at only £1.79 on itunes I'd say its worth a listen!
I'm still waiting on getting copies for the Skullcow webstore but you can buy a physical version from the band themselves or pick-up the aforementioned digital version off itunes! Also - there is a sample of the ep in the Skullcow Player to the right if you want a taster ---->

Wise Children - Absence & Reunion

I've been a massive fan of 'Wise Children' for over a year and this, their second EP, has been a long while coming. Robin is an amazing bloke and a fantastic songwriter and is offering the new 'Absence & Reunion' EP as a pay what you want release so i urge you to go pick it up from their bandcamp site.
It's incredible and you'd be supporting a really great artist. Even if you end up just streaming and downloading it for free, i know Robin would appreciate you giving it a listen.
Enjoy!
