Our Mission:
Skullcow Records aims to work with bands about whom we are truly passionate to get their music to as many people as possible. We also aim to use as many new methods and approaches to spread and promote our music in what is, lets face it, a rapidly changing industry.
We know that in such a competitive field, we are unlikely to ever progress to being more than a costly hobby but we truly feel that if we can get just a few more people to love our bands as much as we do than the reasons for which the label
was established will have been achieved.
Our History:
It?s the old cliche but Skullcow Records started with nothing more than a passion for music and a long-held dream to start a label. Towards the end of his final year at University however, Joe decided to finally act upon that dream and to turn his energy and drive into something productive, helping bands and contributing to the music scene, and thus Skullcow Records was born in April 2008.
It remained little more than a name, logo and myspace page until over Summer 2008 it was agreed that, alongside the good people at Royal Black Records and 100% Music, Skullcow would be releasing the debut album from our friends in Atom Gang. The CD, entitled ?I See, Said The Blind Man? was released in October 2008.
Although the label is effectively
a hobby and so less commercial than some outfits, we hope that our DIY ethics are part of the Skullcow charm, and that through our work we can do our bit to get our bands' music to more people and to spread the passion we feel for these artists to anyone that will listen.
Thanks To:
Skullcow wouldn?t exist without the following people and so we would like to express our thanks. To Em for her support and inspiration in creating ?Skullcow,? to Atom Gang for their friendship and for taking a chance on us (here?s hoping you get all the success you deserve!), to Loz for all his support and selfless sharing of his musical passion and expertise, and to Scylla Records for all their help in the early stages and for the awesome model to aspire to that their label provides. Also (as cheesy as it sounds) to
you, for checking out the site and supporting our bands - it really does mean a lot.
Thank you.
